To see the Land Bank map of this walk, go here and look at #3. To download their map, go here.

Take the Madaket Road toward Madaket. Go left at the Tristram’s Landing development onto South Cambridge Street. Follow this road until you drive over the Massasoit bridge. Right after the bridge, look for the Land Bank marker and a small parking lot on your left.

I can not believe that after ten years, I’ve never taken this delightful walk. It offers some water views, wonderful “hedged-in” paths, varied vegetation, and some wildlife.

Take the clearly marked trail that winds along Long Pond. This is a grassy path, hemmed in by bushes on both sides, that goes on for some time. You will see an Osprey nest on your left, which will be occupied during part of the year. On the day we went we startled three baby grouse out of the bushes, all of whom flapped and flapped their small wings, got airborne, and flew off.

Shortly after you come to a part of the grassy path that is roped off (simply go around), you come to a dirt road. Take a right. Follow the road.

LEASH ALERT: There were no cars on the day I went, but you may want to leash up when you come to the dirt road, just in case.

The dirt road comes to a fork. Take a right here, and you will see the grassy path again on your right. Then very shortly take a sharp left onto another grassy path, which brings you back to the start.
