Nantucket Dog Walk

Walk. Walk your dog. Walk Nantucket.

Nantucket Conservation Foundation Property

Mown paths through meadows

Some shade

Few dogs

Take the Polpis Road out of town. After you pass the Wauwinet Road on your left, take the very next left onto Quidnet Road, and then your very next left onto a road that Google calls Salty Way, but that has a big white rock with the words “Squidnet Road” written on it. Follow this until you come to the Nantucket Conservation Foundation parking lot on your right. To see a map of this trail, go here.

What a fun walk this is! This is a clearly marked 1.5 mile loop trail along mown grassy fields. It meanders past the former sheep pastures. During the later months of summer, however, this walk can be rife with mosquitos.

The trail leads you through portions of deciduous forests, over boardwalks traversing boggy streams, and beside huge bunches of grapes. You can also combine this with the Squam Swamp walk, but remember that no dogs are allowed on that walk.

Leash Alert: Though the signs remain, the sheep project is no longer, so no need (except the law ; ) to leash up your dogs on this walk.
